Checking up on the ONC
Today is the August HIT Standards Committee Meeting from 9am to 3 pm ET. Hear from Co-chair John Halamka, ONC Farzad Mostashari, and Director of ONC OSI Doug Fridsma. The monthly meeting is hearing reports from NwHIN Power Team on the Final Report on Criteria to Assess Maturity of Standards and Specifications and the Implementation Workgroup on Draft Letter Regarding Timelines for Meaningful Use. The meeting as always is open to the public and available by webcast. Here is the agenda.
The ONC wants to know if you are passionate about health IT? Join their LinkedIn Group, Health IT and Electronic Health Records. The group is open to anyone interested in the “development and implementation of electronic health records, electronic medical records software and Health IT issues overall”. They encourage you to share your EHR adoption experiences.
The Automate Blue Button Initiative Kickoff Meeting is today at 4pm ET. The initiative is to develop standards and specifications “that allow patients to not only download their health information to their personal computer, but also to privately and securely automate the sending of that data from their health care providers to their personal health records, email accounts, health-related applications, or other preferred holding place.” See what the Patient Access Summit revealed what would make the Blue Button better.
Have you noticed lately more and more pages on the ONC website now redirect you to the healthIT.gov site? The HIT Policy Committee pages and calendar are now updated on HealthIT.gov. For more great resources check out their third tab, Policy Researchers & Implementers.
