ONC and SAMHSA to Host Joint Webinar
The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) and The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) will jointly host a webinar for the Behavioral Health (BH) community this Thursday at 11am ET . The purpose of the webinar is to broaden awareness about recent efforts to develop, eSpecify, recommend, and incorporate BH clinical quality measures (CQM) into national health IT initiatives. The webinar will feature speakers from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the National Quality Forum (NQF) along with the ONC and SAMSHA. They will be presenting recent BH CQM activities, recommendations, and references. There will also be a Q&A session.
SAMHSA is an agency of the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) with a mission to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on America’s communities. The ONC is also an agency of HHS which promotes development of a nationwide Health IT infrastructure that allows for electronic use and exchange of information.
In other SAMSHA news, last week the HHS and the VA announced a demonstration of the exchange of sensitive health information between providers through the SAMHSA-VA-Pilot. Along with securely exchanging health information it also showed how sensitive health information like mental health records can be tagged so that receiving providers know they must obtain the patient’s authorization to further disclose the information. Read our post, Electronically Exchanging Sensitive Health Information, on the SAMHSA-VA Pilot.
Join the webinar no registration is required.
